Who we are
UsedCarLoans (usedcarloans.com.au) is operated by YesLoans Group Pty Ltd, ABN 72 699 088 965 (“we”, “us”, “our”). We run a free referral service. We are not a lender or a credit provider and we don’t give credit advice. When you enquire, we pass your details to a licensed finance broker who can talk you through your options.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains how.
What we collect
When you complete our quiz, we collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and postcode
- the loan amount you’re after and the type of vehicle, whether it’s new or used, and whether it’s for personal or business use
- your residency or visa status, employment, income range and, if you have one, your ABN status, business name, trading time and turnover
- how you describe your credit history, including any credit events you tell us about
We don’t ask for your date of birth, licence number, bank details or tax file number, and we don’t check your credit file. If you go ahead with a broker, they may ask for more information and will handle it under their own privacy policy.
When you visit the website, we and our service providers also collect:
- technical details such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you view
- how you arrived, for example the website that referred you or the details of an ad you clicked
You can browse the website without telling us who you are. To connect you with a broker, though, we need your name and contact details.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- pass your enquiry to a licensed finance broker so they can contact you about car finance
- check that enquiries are genuine and prevent spam or misuse
- understand how people use the website and improve it, and measure how well our advertising works
- respond to you if you contact us, and meet our legal obligations
We don’t sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Licensed finance brokers. When you submit the quiz and agree to it, we send your details to one of our broker partners, currently Yes Loans (which is part of the same business as UsedCarLoans) or Loans123. The broker may contact you by phone, SMS or email about your enquiry. If you decide to apply, the broker will share your information with the lenders you choose, and both the broker and the lender handle it under their own privacy policies.
Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the website and deliver your enquiry, including:
- Vercel, which hosts the website and processes your quiz submission
- Ambition Cloud (Fintelligence), the customer system our broker partners use to receive enquiries
- Slack, which we use to notify our team about new enquiries
- Google, for Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
They may only use your information to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand how the website is used. These tools collect information such as pages viewed and how you found us. We don’t send your name, email or phone number to Google.
The quiz also saves your answers in your own browser as you go, so you can pick up where you left off. That copy stays on your device and is cleared when you submit.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with theGoogle Analytics opt-out add-on. The website still works without them.
Contact from brokers
The broker you’re connected with may call, text or email you about your enquiry. If you no longer want to hear from them, tell the broker or use the unsubscribe option in their messages. You can also contact us and we’ll pass on your request.
How we protect and keep it
Your information is sent over an encrypted connection and held with providers that use industry-standard security. We limit access to people who need it. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailingprivacy@usedcarloans.com.au. We’ll respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. If we can’t give you access, we’ll explain why.
For information held by a broker or lender, please contact them directly.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, email us at privacy@usedcarloans.com.au with the details. We’ll acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
